Journals
The journals dedicated to Eastern European Economics which are available on this campus contain primarily the research of Eastern European scholars and researchers. Journals of translation include Eastern European Economics, Russian & East European Finance and Trade, and Problems of Economic Transition. The journal with the longest publication history is East European Economics, in print since 1962. Articles in this journal reflect current developments in Central and Eastern European economic theory and practice and emphasize countries other than the former Soviet republics. Russian & East European Finance and Trade publishes important research findings and theoretical work concerning the integration of Eastern Europe into the world economy and foreign trade relations. Problems of Economic Transition provides translations primarily of Russian-language economic research, both original submissions, and articles previously published in Eastern Europe. Articles treat such issues as property and monetary reform and the transition to market economics.
In addition to journals of translation, the library houses three journals issued by the Russian Academy of Sciences. Obshschestvo i ekonomika (Economics and Society) is a journal of interest to both economists and sociologists for its focus on the effects of economic structures on society. A recent issue of Obshchestvo i ekonomika includes a forecast of Russian economic development from 1996 to 2000, a study of Russian entrepreneurship in 1995, and excerpts from the transcripts of the international conference "Post-Communist Transformation: Five-Year Experience."
A publication which provides articles on economic and political transformations in Central and Eastern Europe as a whole is Vestnik nauchnoi informatsii (Bulletin of Scientific Information). In the words of the journal's editors, the research investigates "the course of reforms . . . the experience of economic and political transformations, general problems of transition from [a] totalitarian state to democracy, from [an] administrative command system to market economics. . ." Voprosy ekonomiki (Problems of Economics) is one of the premier Economics journals of Eastern Europe. Topics covered include Russia international trade and finance, social security, economic conditions, economic theory and transitional economics.

Dictionaries
Non-native readers of Russian may need to consult a dictionary when reading Economics literature in Russian. Several dictionaries are available for this purpose on campus. Russian-English/English-Russian Dictionary of Free Market Era Economics is a two-way guide to investment and market terminology. A dictionary which has the advantage of being able to circulate is Russko-angliiski finansovo-ekonomicheskii slovar (Russian-English Dictionary of Economics and Finance). This dictionary is intended for speakers of Russian, and therefore, in addition to English equivalents, definitions of Russian terms are provided in Russian as well.
